Treasurer's Report (May 19 Meeting):
Comrades,
Here is the partial minutes of our batch meeting:
Our batchmates made a comparative analysis* between a foundation and a cooperative.
After the analysis, our batchmates agreed that setting up a foundation is the better
alternative for our plans for the next five years (when we will be having our silver
jubilee in AD 2007).
* Atty. Literal will discuss this in more detail in the minutes of the Corporate
Secretary.
Officially, our foundation will be called "LSQC BATCH 82 FOUNDATION, INC."
I have been appointed Treasurer-in-Trust of our foundation.
The following persons have already contributed P1000 each to our foundation:
Aids Lecaros
Miel Magana
Joseph Literal
Philip Felix
Shirley Felix
Hernan Espiritu
Jojo Baetiong
Apaul Fausto
Egay del Castillo
Roy Fernandez
AJ Fausto
Jerome Sarte
Ben Racela
We will be opening the foundation's accounts, both dollar and peso, with Philippine
National Bank. In the meantime, you can send your donations to the following bank
accounts:
For peso deposits:
Bank: Landbank
Branch: North Ave. Diliman, Quezon City
Account Name: Leopoldo T. Virtucio
Account Number: S/A No. 0717-0195-04
For dollar deposits:
Bank: Philippine National Bank
Branch: UP Campus, Diliman, Quezon City
Account Name: Leopoldo T. Virtucio
Account Number: S/A No. 275-701829-5
After depositing your contributions, kindly send me an email message containing
your transaction details. I will immediately transfer the contributions to our
foundation's accounts once we have completed the requirements.
Atty. Literal will finalize the Secretary's Certificate which will allow me to open
the bank accounts of our foundation.
We need to come up with P50,000 before 15 June 2001 (this is the day when the
reservation for our batch name expires.) to complete the requirements of the
Securities and Exchange Commission in setting up the foundation. If we don't come
up with the amount by 15 June, Roy F. has offered to loan us the balance (at a
"friendly" interest rate, of course).
Hope to see you (and your contributions) very soon.
Thank you very much.
Yours truly,
leo v.

batchmates,
i really personally want to make a go of the foundation to be able to
return something to the batch. that's why i am willing to loan the batch
the shortfall to the minimum P50,000.00 (correction lang, i'm not charging
any interest, not even a "friendly" interest). i remember a few years back
medyo kinalabit ako ni dan morallo about my indifference on LSQC and our
batch in particular. now na may vehicle na, gusto ko rin makatulong to
give back to the school.
it is not so much that i want to cover my possible loan exposure to the
batch, i just want to appeal to all of my batchmates to contribute our
share (financial, organization, time, skills, etc).
let's try to refer as many batchmates to be counted in for the foundation
and for our egroup.
pax et bonum!

Fellow Lourdesians:
Kudos to all of you who attended the May 19 general meeting at LSQC!
Although I could not make it in person- rest assured I am one with you in
making our foundation a reality.
Let me serve as a catalyst for this foundation by asking all the pertinent
questions as follows:
1. Who will be the officers and trustees of the foundation? Chairman, Vice
Chairman. Treasurer, Secretary and Trustees?
2. What will be the goal of the foundation? Save LSQC?
3. How will the foundation accomplish this goal? Fundraisers?
As I have concrete plans of immigrating to the US within the year, I hope to
be able to serve this foundation by contacting our batchmates abroad so that
they may join and become part of this foundation.
Let me be so bold as to nominate Roy Fernandez to chair this foundation. We
need more people like him who will take the initiative in order to make this
endeavor come true. Will you accept this nomination Roy?
So when will we have our next general meeting- it has to be within June- how
about on June 12 - a holiday falling on a Tuesday!
We can hold it anywhere we wish- maybe we can ask anyone who is a member of
QC Sports Club (paging Dr. Ben Racela!) to reserve a function room and KKB
na lang sa gastos. Hopefully we can have a general meeting again and vote
for our foundations officers by then.
What do you guys think?

Batchmates,
The minutes will follow soon. I'm just busy kasi I'll be transferring to a
new office by June 1, 2001.
With respect to the nomination/election of officers of the foundation,
well, siguro we really need to elect the officers of the Foundation kasi
kailangan ito para sa articles para matapos na natin. I also need it for
the secretary's certification for the opening of the account at PNB(?)
since Leo has been waiting for it. Anyway, Leo, target nating before June
15, 2001.
Incidentally, we also need to elect the auditor, external and internal,
kasi may funds na tayo to manage, para walang gusot. Let's agree on the
date of the next meeting ASAP para mas madami ang maka attend.
Appeal to all batchmates to give na there contributions para magampanan na
ni Roy F. ang pagiging presidente without financial exposure on his side,
just kidding. Pero Roy F., if your sched will permit, okay sa kin if you
will be pres. of the foundation, at least for the organizational stage,
Dapat kasi we start on the right track para tuloy tuloy na.
Sorry ulit sa final minutes, coming soon.

Mga Batchmates:
Let us have a meeting on June 12, 2001. It is a holiday and it is on a Tuesday. Let us have lunch together. I will ask Ben Racela if we can reserve a function room at the QC Sports Club.
We do have to accomplish the following:
1. finalization of the contributions for the foundation- so that Roy F. can add to the amount collected if below P50,000;
2. Nomination and election of officers and trustees of the foundation;
3. planning and goal setting of the objectives of the foundation;
4. reporting by the membership, webpage and other committees of our batch.
If you have anything else to add, please feel free to do so.
I am volunteering to emcee the June 12 meeting as I have no plans of becoming an officer or trustee of the foundation as I will immigrate within the year to the US.
Text me at 0919-2356-844 or email me back at alecaros@info.com.ph or just reply at lsqc82@yahoogroups.com for your comments or objections.
Pax,

I have no objection on the 12 June meeting and on the future meetings. As we are still in the initial phase and bearing in mind that we have a looong way to go (read : many more meetings to come), I suggest that we keep our meetings as austere as possible. The cost of these meetings (which may include side lakads afterwards) may be affordable to some but not for others. Hence, instead of enticing more to join the group, we may end up turning them away.
Also on the issue of P1,000 contribution. May I suggest that we allow staggered payment to make it easy-on-the-pocket for those batchmates who may not be able to pay one-time.

Dear Batchmates:
Ben Racela and I have finally found a venue for our June 12 lunch meeting -
we propose that it be held at Rasa Singapura. Rasa Singapura is a tea bar
and restaurant located at the ground floor of the Rotary Center Bldg. at
Roces Ave. corner Mother Ignacia, Quezon City. It is just beside the Equitable
Bank and the burned down remains of the Glo-ri Supermarket.
Ben talked to the owner, our fellow Rotarian Ed Tan, and he was most gracious
enough to let us use his new and very cozy place for our meeting this coming
Tuesday for free!
If we can all have our lunch at this inexpensive yet authentic Singaporean
restaurant, it would be most apreciated. Sagot ko na ang corkage if anyone
would like to bring a bottle/s of wine or liquor for lunch and for
ellowship after the meeting.
Thank you Shirley for your insightful comments - it was most appreciated and
we have responded accordingly. That is why instead of holding the meeting at
the QC Sports Club, we can just hold it at our regular hangout - Rasa Singapura -
at the Rotary Center Bldg. - all for free! By the way - if any batchmate owns
a restaurant or has a venue we can use for our meetings - please come forward
so we may patronize the same.
However, with all due respect to the pending motion of the Honorable
Congressman from the Bureau of Mines, Leo Virtucio, I must dissent from
his opinion that we just hold a meeting on June 12 only amongst the members
of the so-called "core group". (Please qualify how one becomes a member of
this esteemed group and who the curent members are. I suspect I am included
if the criteria is commitment towards giving back to our LSQC!)
I would rather that we have a general meeting on June 12- open to all interested
batchmates who are willing to sacrifice their precious time and efforts towards
making the vision of building a foundation so that we may give back to our alma
mater. Besides it would be most fun to see each other again after all these years.
More momentum will be built if we encourage an open invitation to any batchmate
to attend all our meetings so that we can acheive a 100% attendance on our 20th
year anniversary on February 2002! Agree or disagree Leo? Spin a win!
June 12 would also be a most opportune time to discuss the qualifications or
plans of action of those aspiring (or dreading?) to become officers or trustees
of the LSQC 82 Foundation. It is my personal opinion that it will take a firm
commitment to attend monthly or regular meetings for the next five years,
spending time and money to raise funds or contacting all the members of our
batch and generally a willingness to sacrifice for the love of our batchmates
and alma mater so that when we attend our 20th homecoming come February 2002,
we would have a long-term plan of giving back to LSQC worthy of our distinction
as the biggest batch to have ever graduated- and also the best batch from LSQC!
If each member of our batch of 280 (?) commits to donate at least One Thousand
Pesos every year to our Foundation for the next five years then a fund of
ONE MILLION PESOS can easily be acheived! It will be up to the officers and
trustees of the foundation to push for fundraisers to make the foundation
even more capable of giving back to LSQC - be it by way of contributing euipment
or sponsoring seminars for the teachers or taking steps to raise the ranking
among metro manila grade or high schools or by improving the standing of LSQC
in the NCEE (or whatever it is called nowadays). We can even call a vote on
the course of action to take as long as our batch is organized.
Food for thought - any comments, suggestions or violent reactions? Hoy gising
naman kayo!
Pax,
Adrian

Mga Batchmates:
Unless anyone objects, I propose that the June 12 lunch meeting at Rasa Singapura
(with telephone no. 412-4393) from 12 noon to 2:00 pm (up to sawa) be open to
everyone who wishes to give back to LSQC.
And yes Jeff Pizarro - I will definitely be there to emcee the meeting - so see
you there pare.
Clarification lang - Its OK if you do not take your lunch there - but the owner
of the restaurant who let us use his place would appreciate it if you could try
his Singaporean cooking.
If anyone wants to follow after lunch and join us for some drinks, please do so -
it would be nice to see you after all these years!
I'll have a bottle ready and waiting for anyone who wishes to join us on June 12 -
so kita-kits na lang!
I trust that Leo, Mon, Joseph and the rest of the core group will be ready with
their reports. It would be great if someone (Mon?) could bring a laptop or
notebook computer so we can access the website for everyones viewing pleasure.
Pax,
Adrian

Comrades,
Atty. Aids is correct that I was only planning to have a "core group" meeting
on 12 June. I prefer to have something concrete to present to the members on
our next general assembly.
However Atty. Aids' persuasive invitation made me change my mind: "I would rather
that we have a general meeting on June 12- open to all interested batchmates who
are willing to sacrifice their precious time and efforts towards making the vision
of building a foundation so that we may give back to our alma mater. Besides it
would be most fun to see each other again after all these years. More momentum
will be built if we encourage an open invitation to any batchmate to attend all
our meetings so that we can acheive a 100% attendance on our 20th year anniversary
on February 2002! Agree or disagree Leo? Spin a win!"
I definitely have to agree. In which case, I am inviting everyone to attend the
general assembly / luncheon meeting of our foundation on 12 June, Tuesday 12PM to
2PM at Rasa Singapura - a tea bar and restaurant located at the ground floor of
the Rotary Center Bldg. at Roces Ave. corner Mother Ignacia, Quezon City.
Be there or be square!!!

question lang, my understanding about all this hoopla of getting
together is to renew old ties, and all that nostalgia trivia, and as an
added attraction, return soemthing back to LSQC. why not just solicit as
necessary for those who can and are willing to give (no strongarm tactics,
please your honors), get something na pwedeng pakinabangan ng LSQC for these
20 yrs, & determine if the project was successful as basis for the 25th
year, & not all the technicalities of a foundation, cooperative, or what. sa
madaling salita, something simple, yet meaningful (well, nasasa atin na yun
kung magiging meaningful), and not so time consuming, so complicated, etc.
the thought of the foundation and all that jazz is definitely commendable,
but mukhang medyo nagiging complicated (there goes that word again), to put
it mildly. buti pa yung mga nasa website dept, tahimik at simple pero wow,
hanep sa dating. yun lang.

Hi Jeff,
I think that the guys who are putting up all these things really mean well.
But we also need the fund to keep things going... hope we don't get anything
wrong.
The primary reason about everything is that we are 20 years this coming
2002, we hope to see each other then, & while doing that, we can also do
something for the school to make the event more meaningful.
When people mention about the contribution, they do not really mean to
impose but this is just something that is mentioned in passing because it is
an important part of the preparations.
Honestly medyo complicated rin ang mga bagay bagay about cooperatives &
foundations sa akin because I am not a lawyer myself. May kasabihan nga pag
pinasukan mo na ng mga abugado ang usapan, magulo na ito (no offense meant
mga batchmates na attorneys). But trust me, lawyers or not, A OK ang mga
batchmates natin. Tingin ko ayos ang kalalabasan nito.
So Jeff my friend next time you think about a theme song for the event why
not think of "What are friends are for?" by Stevie Wonder & friends(tama ba
yung title na yun?) & I can always count on you for sure.

roy: the intention is noble, the people who are NOW running the show have
all the apparently needed qualifications, but as ive told H.E. Atty Literal,
i'm trying to be the devils advocate here, to balance it off, for if you
read all the stuff for this, eh well, nasabi ko na nuon. yun lang, but point
very well taken sir! ok ito, nagiging forum ng agree at disagree. ituloy
lang natin. ingat dyan, san ka man pre!
