galing talaga!

anyway, my initial plan is to go home muna before flying to NZ, but due to financial constraints, etc etc....

of course it's good to know na a-takbo at a-talon pa rin, tapos nanalo pa... i really am looking forward to play with you guys....kailan kaya yon?

It was a Dennis Baltazar perimeter 2-point jumpshot that snatched a victory 41-38 against a younger, faster and wide bodied team here at PMI Roosevelt Ave.

Dennis together with Mon Ycasiano, Erwin Paz and Jojo Angus plus one (forgot the name) played heads up basketball. They erected a 10-2 lead in the first fraction of the game; there were not allowing the opponent to take the lead and ending at half time score 20-16.

Meanwhile, in their second game the team lead again by as much as 5 points 15-10, ending the first half 21-18. But their second wind was no where to be found in the next half, the team yielded a 34-40 lost.

Win or lose, notable pa rin ang laro kasi there were timely set 3-point and sure assist for the perimeter shots made and strong lay-ups to the hoop plus a series of fast break points off defensive rebounds by the lolos were completed. (Take note: A-talon at A-takbo pa sila talaga! Hehehe)

Sa pagbabalik mo, Dennis! Laro tayo again...
Paging also: Gadong, Edan, Rainier & RoyCard!!!

To All Lourdesians,

Whenever in the Philippines, pls do drop by the LSQCAA Billiard, Badminton and Basketball activities and re-live the old elem and high school days. Coming from my 8 years of absence, my recent visit at the Side Pocket Billiard event is definitely worthwhile. Billiards pa lang yan nakita ko na ulit halos lahat ng ka-batch including other batches and old old friends. Seeing old friends from 20 yrs back gives you a great sense of belonging kaya saludo talaga ako sa mga may pakana nito. To all the Retiro boys I saw last Friday, thanks for a great evening. Erwin, Angus, Oeph, Toti, Noel R, Jay M, Edwin T, Ted P, Joey A, Gretz, York, King George, Tuksi, Mon Y, Omeng and everbody else, thanks again Guys! Sa uulitin..

The team composed of 5 -- namely:
Toti Esguerra
Gary Puno
Mon Ycasiano
Erwin Paz
Jojo Angus
We played well for the first time together... naka uniform kami... ang laro may REFEREE... We had fun (grabe) kahit na ang mga lolo lawit ang dila nung first game... pero bumawi sa next game....

Kayo sali na... iba na ang pinagpawisan!!!

Jojo Angus

QUEZON CITY. Last April 22 Saturday, St. Peter82 composed of Erwin Paz, Ted Palomo, Jake Domingo, Gary Puno, Gadong Mangibin, Jojo Angus and Vince De Dios from batch 86 played a tune-up basketball game versus a selection from SOLGGs basketball champion team St. Dominic of Batch 1990.

St. Dominic's 3-point artillery was very effective that afternoon. Probably about 60% of their team total attempts found its way to the basket to facilitate St. Peter82 loss 109-105.

**Pics show Gadong in basketball action and St. Peter'82's 6-man team.

Jojo Jojo Angus

Edan,

miss ka rin namin lalo na si Erwin... hinihahanap niya ang isang player na after a game e rest AND palit ng rubber shoes for another game... hehehe

alam mo, ganda ang laro namin kahit talo nung first game kahit heavy breathing na dahil sa pagod, tuloy pa rin and LARO. We were playing against guys who were 6-10 years younger than us... it was really very encouraging kasi tagal na hindi magkasamang maglaro... taon ang bilang e... OK pa rin at tsaka kasama mong pinagpapawisan e kalaro mo noong elementary o noong high school pa! GRABE!!

Si Lolo Toti was getting into the groove... defense niya sa ilalim solid... Si Lolo Gary panay ang lipad... he did blocked shots. Si Lolo Mon and Lolo Erwin palitan sa three point and perimeter shots... Si Lolo Mon nga parang may pustang PISO PISO sa free throw lane pasok lagi... I gave my share helping these guys out... The game was cool, competitive and fun...

Anyway, basta Sabado at nagka chance ka bumaba diyan sa bundok HUWAG kalimutan bitbitin ang jersey mo (LSQC reversible) ha...

Play tayo soon....

Jojo

kasi naman, nung nandyan ako...walang sumisipot...

heniways...ayos yan...para matangal ang mga cholesterol....kung pwede lang talaga bumyahe every weekend, kaso mahal pamasahe.....at isa pa every sat and sun, we have a garage sale, and barbeque...dito lang kami nakakakuha ng pangastos..aside from the detergent biz... ngayon pa, lapit na pasukan...

i consider the garage sale exercise, kasi yung mga pambenta eh 30 steps from ground floor, kaya sa akyat baba ko ng mga gamit, every weekend, i still maintain my weight....then la ako coffee, tea and juice na lang,....pero kulang pa rin ng basketball, right now the only basketball i play eh sa playstation, at least ka team mate ko si Jordan.

we'll see, nag-aaya ang mga bata lumuwas, eh la na kaming bahay dyan, kaya isip isip pa.

txt na lang kung makakababa ako soon.

edan

...i forgot, i'm preparing my basketball collectibles - mags, action figures, etc...for selling, timbrehan mo ko kung may interested, para mareserve ko na.

I was told by Toti that he had an ankle fracture based on the x-ray. I think he is going to see an orthopedic surgeon. Malulutong na talaga ang buto ni Lolo. Pero actually, maganda pa rin dumepensa si pare. Nasa injured reserved list muna sya.

The lung busting game we had last Saturday was quite challenging, as we try to compete with younger and faster players. But more importantly, it was really great playing with old classmates. Nandun pa yung mga galaw, kaya lang, 10x slower yata. Parang naka slow-mode kami. The spirit was willing but the flesh was week.

We lost the first game, I think 33-40 against 12 players, nagsamantala nung lawit na dila namin. We ( Roy, Jerome and I) were reminded by Erwin, Mon, Jojo and Toti that they won against these players the previous Saturday with Gary Puno around. Na-pressure kaming 3 baka alaskahin kami ni Gorio, so we did our best to win the second game, 41 - 35, with Mon Ycasiano nailing an open 3 point shot in the end. MAY ASIM PA RIN ang mga lolo.

I am sure you will hear from Jojo A about the game and hopefully some pics of the group.

Calling on some more reinforcements, maawa naman kayo sa amin. Ayokong mag-resuscitate sa court. Before playing, siguraduhin nyo cleared kayo ng mga doctor nyo.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ulit Tots, magpakain ka naman.

Jonas

Toti,

Happy birthday!!! Sad to hear that you have to see an orthopedic surgeon. Yan na nga ba sinasabi ko kay Jojo A eh.chess na lang siguro para malayo sa doctors office.

Nakita ko si Gary two weeks ago sa tapat ng office nyaakala ko si Benjie Paras eh.

Good luck boys! Igihan nyo paglaro! Paging Jovy Florentino for reinforcement!

Vic

Maraming salamat sa lahat ng birthday greetings!

Though it was a bad way to start my 41st year, I know I continue to be blessed with a good life, family and friends like all of you na kahit lawit dila mag-basketball, tuloy ang laban ... at nanalo pa.

Sayang bitin ako sa laro nung sabado because of the injury. Nakalimot ako kasi akala ko high school pa ko.

But it was fun and great playing out there with the old gang - me teamwork pa. Galing!

Toti

Kayo naman... nakatsamba lang kami. I'll try to play with you guys this week when I'm back. Same meeting place (Side Pocket) and time ba?

Gary

im coming this saturday, bababa ako para lang makapagbasketball, di ko alam kung pwede pa rin ako maglaro....doc...pwede ba tayong magsteroids????

i hope toti will be OK!

pakiremind the oponents na hindi pwede ang fastbreak! Bawal na ngayon yan! Pwedeng kasuhan ni Atty. Jerome yan!

basta pag twing rebound ng oposing team, time out agad, para makapwesto muna sa sa defensa!

bababa ako saturday morning, play basketball, tapos akyat na ulit ng Sunday....mainit dyan eh. dito umuualan twing hapon.

Bus lang ako, hope to see you guys!

edan

Last Saturday another game. Ang standing uli eh 1 win 1 lose!. Aba! Reinforced ang kalaban namin.

Kami rin. Dumating si Jonas del Rosario, Jerome Sarte and Roy Fernandez. Wala si Gary Puno. To complete the team in attendance si Toti Esguerra, Erwin Paz, Mon Ycasiano and Jojo Angus. Alam niyo di kami matambakan. We lost the first game. We were feeling each other. Ngayon mukhang di lawit ang dila ng mga lolo kasi may kapalitan eh. We won the second game. We made adjustments to our game. On both games, watching from the sidelines, tulungan sa defensive rebounding para walang second chance point ang opponent. Sa offense there is an extra pass for the sure two points or for a clear three point shot.

Ang bilis ni Jonas... parang di nagbago - playing as if nasa high school pa rin... He was all over the court - the rest of the lolos were trying to keep up with him.

Roy kahit na may previous injury sa paa kaya maingat, doon pa rin laro niya perimeter shooting and defense.

Jerome operated well near the hoop on offense. When he takes shot its like accurately slow using the board.

Erwin, Mon and I were using the three point and perimeter area to come up with points. Toti was Mr. Intensity on defense as it should be... his steadiness was not to let the opponent pass through him, unfortunately he lost his footing, and his right ankle gave in.

Hey, let us all join together in prayer for Toti's fast healing ng ankle niya! Hopefully it will not require any surgery.

Ika nga ni Roy F., "Tamang-tama ang pawis, ang sarap!"

Kayo Sali Na! Iba na ang pinagpawisan...

To Pareng Toti:
Happy Birthday! GET WELL SOON.

Jojo

May 23, 2005
sarap sana sumali sa basketball nyo. si batman di pa kasama?? but if does tell him not to wear his cape during the game at baka mapatid din. matulad p sya kay toti. well baka mas mahirapan siya dahil walang ospital sa mga bali na pakpak

allen

The younger dudes were running and assertive to play to wear us out although we almost did; we got hold of our second wind.

We had an audience to watch us - Atty. Joseph Literal. Toti Esguerra sent SMS that he is with us in spirit, which truly cheered us all through the game.

We won twice and lost once. The scores were 33-40; 40-17 and 41-33.

The '82 team were composed of Jonas, Jerome, Gary, Noel Roque, Mon Y., Erwin P. and I and we were reinforced by Edan Surtida who came all the way from Bagiuo just to play with us.

While each one contributed hard on defense; Noel played to get his basketball rhythm back. Edan added speed to the team; he was up front for the fast breaks.

Jonas led the team to be patient in our offensive execution. Gary, the main man in defense was an intimidating force, blocked shots and was forcing the opponent to change their shots as they are driving to the hoop. Jerome made his presence felt as he came up with second chance shots and getting points around the hoop. Mon and Erwin were game with their three point and perimeter shots. I was kind of all over the offensive court.

The opponent's defense can not seem to find the lock us out because there is a guy free for the sure two points or clear three-point shot. They were, I might say, disappointed with each other. The last game they thought we were tired but as the game proceeded they were the ones who were tired.

Ika nga, kaming mga lolo eh mukhang tumatagal na sa laro. Aba'y naka tatlong game na. Hehehe.

Laro na tayo!!

Sali na!

Jojo

May 25, 2003
jo, siguro dapat naging sportswriter ka....di ko na matandaan yung details....

anyway...the first game for me was a little bit tiring, i did not let the game come to me (lalim no.) pilit ang pasa, pilit ang tira, rushing game, ika nga...not to mention trying to digest once again, kung papano, ang laro ni Jonas, Gary, mo, and the rest of the guys.

the second game, serious tayong lahat, we were more accurate, more coordinated and more focused, kaya tingnan mo naman ang score...grabe 17 points lang nagawa ng opposing team despite our "old" school type of basketball....kala siguro nila, hihingalin tayo...

the third games was just as good as the second game, kaya lang di rin sila maka habol, kaya di rin sila manalo...

ako naman, ngayon lang ulit nakabangon....hanggang kahapon, my whole body was still in pain, nakailan na nga akong alaxan e....kaya siguro June 4 pwede na ulit basketball....

kahit malayo, basta't gusto, maraming paraan di ba...o order na ulit ng UBE, PEANUT BRITTLE, gulay, etc....para may pamasahe ulit ako....

until the next game.

Whew! Finally!! Here goes!!!

MATES, we won two games in last Saturday's (June 11) PAPAWIS game against the LSM'80 MARINEROS at Camp Aguinaldo gym! The scores were 40-33 and 40-36.

The LSQC'82 team attendance was great! SAMPU kami. Namely, VIC MARTINEZ, GILBERT VILLAPANDO, ROY CARDENAS, CRISPIN SEMANA, Jonas Del Rosario, Jerome Sarte, Roy Fernandez, Erwin Paz, Mon Ycasiano, and Jojo Angus.

We started out with Roy Fernandez playing with the Marineros. Kasi kulang sila ng isa while we were 8 already. As the game moved forward, some of the Marineros' team members came until 7 played whereas we became 10. It was some game!

We did a lot of running (encouraged by Doc Jonas) more the Marineros. Tried to tire them out kasi kulang sila nevertheless they were in the game.

We were running fastbreak chances lead by Jonas, Gilbert V., Erwin (with his behind the back passes assist), Mon and I. Kapag may pagod na sa mga lolong ito, may ka-substitution eh. Aba! There was a fastbreak na kakaiba, sa eagerness na mahabol ang bola (from Lolo Gilbert to Lolo Mon) ay nabasag ang pader na gawa sa Hardiflex sa gym. Lusot paa ni Lolo Mon, however that did not discourage him - he played well. He ended the first game with the winning shot and completed a three point shot to put the team 82 ahead by two when the score was 35-36 in favor of the Marineros in the second game.

Actually, everyone even team Marineros played competently. The Marineros were hitting their three point and perimeter shots while we did the same! Although shots were made from the outside, Team 82 had the height advantage. We were pounding on the Marineros with second chance points on our offensive rebound and limited the Marineros on our defensive rebounding courtesy of Vic Martinez (hail Vic! Dinaan sa laki!), Roy Cardenas (dahil sa long arms), Jerome Sarte, Roy Fernandez and Crispin Semana -> a revelation - swerte sa bola! The ball kinda fall into his hand. Hehehe! (Sali kaya kayo o nood to see what I mean.)

In the second game the Marineros were finding their target in the three point and perimeter area specifically in the second half. Conversely, we responded to Doc Jonas' direction to tighten our defense - man to man sa shooters ng Marineros. Ayaw patalo ang mga lolo - a concerted defensive effort in the nick of time to win.

After the game, we (Prez George was present) spent time with some guys of LSM at Auto Camp. Nanalo pa ako ng P1000.00 dahil sa pa-raffle courtesy of LSM'81. Ubos na rin ang napanalunan kasi isinama sa pambayad sa bill. Hahaha! Masaya noh!

Jojo

You cannot win them all! We lost twice. 25-40; 35-40.

Team 82 composed of Roy Cardenas, Roy Fernandez, Vic Martinez, Gilbert Villapando, played acceptably with again guys who younger and faster at PMI gym while Jojo Angus played hurt --a pulled muscle sa left upper leg opposite the hamstring.

Clearly, in the first game we were outplayed and outgunned. It took time for us to feel how each other play and then the lolos tired na kaya... tukod kasi walang substitution.

Gilbert made his best effort to play the point guard position. Vic played center all right - he made the opponents to change their shots as they made an attempt to drive to the hoop. (Suwete sila. pumapasok shots nila e.)

The 2 Roy's were playing competently -crashing the boards by grabbing the defensive rebounds and getting second chance points on the offensive rebounds.

I was struggling to play the point then later on late part of the first half parang naiwan ang left leg ko as I attempted to drive to the hoop (ooooouch! Then a thought came, "Naku walang pamalit. Tsk! Tsk!" Nevertheless I decided to play pa rin.)

The next game we played better. We made adjustments to our game as Roy F. and Roy C. were giving instructions and suggestions how we will play. We were in the game! We took the first half!!

Nag-substitution sila. We were against rested legs. They have shooters who were fresh from the bench. Yikes! Kami pagod na!

Then Crispin Semana came. He joined in then relieve Roy F. whereas apat pa kaming pagod. Paano na ito?! Laro pa rin! In the middle of the second half, OUCH uli ako sa same leg. The referee stopped the game to have me replaced para daw hindi lumala.

The rest of the guys played with heart to win, on the contrary -- HHhaayy! Talo! The agony of defeat. Anyway, next time...

Papawis? Gusto mo? Sali ka!!!

ATTENTION: Team 82 -Basketball

Tentative tune up games (c/o Roy Cardenas) against:

Philippines Science HS'87 - July 9. Sabado 6pm
(confirmed time & venue to be sent via SMS)

Benedictine Abbey HS'87(?)- to be announced
UST High School'81(?)- to be announced

Jojo

Jojo well said and recapped. This Saturday will be a much better and balanced game given a better attendance of players. Let's show them our might...kahit na lolo basta may substitution kayang-kaya.

Kaya Jonas I hope you will feel up and about by Saturday. Erwin, Cris, Roy C and Roy F, Gilbert "the Twister" Villapando, Mon see you there too.

See you there.

Vic

July 11, 2005
Whoa! Naka three and 1/2 games Yes!! tatlo at kalahati laro ang inyong team82 last July 9, 6pm at AFP Wellness Center (Camp Aguinaldo Gym)!!! Yipee!!!!

We played well against the Philippine Science HS'87. Lolo Roy C. was the one who made the arrangements to make this tune up game possible. The scores were 41-33 and 40-33. Team82 won twice and we did not finish the third game 20-13 ang score.

Ten players came namely -- Roy Cardenas, Roy Fernandez, Jerome Sarte, Vic Martinez, Gilbert Villapando, Erwin Paz, Mon Ycasiano, Gary Puno, Jojo Angus and Jonas del Rosario.

Kulang ang players ng Phil. Science kaya to start the game rolling we sent Roy C. and Roy F to them. Hanggang sa umabot sila ng pito! Kaya lang napilay ang isa sa kanila at palagay ko tukod sila e. Even sa second game they were asking either of the two Roy's to substitute for them. They promised to have a better team with more players next time.

Ang team82 e na-tune up po. We were able to play with different combinations of players playing with each other. We tried playing with the twin towers -- lolo Gary and lolo Vic; two point guards -- lolo Jonas and lolo Erwin, etc. Doc Jonas commented "may gatas at kape" combination ang team kasi lolo Erwin and lolo Mon are hitting their outside shooting and kapag fastbreak na, sure two points ang ending.

Lolo Jojo was able to play though injured siya. Sabi ni lolo Mon, "Hindi rin naka-tiis si Angus! Hahaha!" I was not in my usual form to play pero "pacing lang, tune up baga!"

Lolo Jome was the shooter near the hoop. Lolo Gilbert is getting into the groove na and his confidence level is a notch higher na. Ika nga ni Vic, he is Glibert "The Twister" Villapando. Si lolo Vic ang height niya nakakailang pag drive ka to the hoop. Si lolo Gary naman practice siya sa three point shooting niya pag offense and "Tapal King" naman pag defense.

What made the day more exciting was the fourth game were team82 divided into two teams and played blue vs white.

Blue team -- Erwin, Mon, Vic, Roy F., Roy C. and Jerome.
White team -- Jonas, Gilbert, Jojo, Gary plus 1 Phil Science player.

Lamang all the way ang blue team. Ang tibay lalo na sa defense. Tigas ni lolo Roy F. hindi matinag -- husay sa boxing out, sa offense effective ang shots niya using the board. Si Roy C. crashing the boards and rebounding. Si Jome patuloy ang shooting touch niya. Of course, tested uli ang "gatas at kape" combination ni Erwin at Mon. Hanggang napako sa sila sa 30.

Ang white team lead by Doc Jonas were patient at may injured player pa sila pero matiyaga ang team. Nagpalitan na ng points after the 30th point. Exchanging of shots na. Gary (white) and Mon (blue) 3-point shots... Jojo (white) sa ilalim with reverse lay ups and undergoal shots while Jerome (blue) shots near the hoop... hanggang nag 39-38 in favor of the white team.

We were guarding Mon baka siya ang winnng shot BUT Jerome was on the weak side defense ng white... took the shot and SWOOSH!! Basket counted. They won!!...

What was hard to accept na ako ang nagpatalo before the winning shot ni Jerome. I ask Doc Jonas for the ball and tried to drive to the basket... pumito ang referee... TRAVELLING!!

Anyway, isang team lang naman talaga ang mananalo di ba? Hehehe!

Masaya noh! Papawis na rin kayo... Time is now!! Sali na!!

Abangan mga pictures courtesy of Erwin Paz....

Pax!

Jojo

eh napakagagaling naman talaga...di nyo na kailangan ng taga bundok!

while your are playing...tuloy naman ang eherhisyo ko dito, every other morning after sending the kids to school...the whole barangay court...is all to myself, 45 minutes straight...dribling, jump shooting, 21, etc...lahat na...

then every saturday morning, am with bunsoy...passing, dribling, shooting, running...aba, nagustuhan magbasketball....natigil ang taekwondo eh...

anyway, to all the future games of '82, show them "no mercy"....

edan

July 18, 2005
OLAT! 33-40 and 38-40 ang score last Saturday. I thought it would be pay back time for team82.

Team'82 was composed of Erwin Paz, Mon Ycasiano (with bum stomach), Gilbert "The Twister" Villapando, Jerome Sarte and Jojo Angus (with injury pa rin) plus a guest player -- Pao.

The young opponents we played against us showed no mercy. Their points were mostly coming from driving to the hoop. Kaming playing defense underneath the goal were witnessing younger guys jumping behind us kahit na may boxing out tactics na ang na-employ. Our help defense was decent enough to make them think twice about a drive to the hoop. Eh medyo tired na kami at sila ay nagsa-substitute in a weak position na ang defense naming. Walang kaming pang intimidate eh.

Our offense was notable. Gilbert is making his points via his twisting efforts as he drives to the hoop and was able to pick up a new shooting repertoire 3 point shots. Jerome is getting his shooting touch back -- taking his shots mga 8-10 feet away from the goal. Erwin and Mon in their usual perimeter and 3 point shots. While Pao was also running with us, passing and making points for the team.

Jerome and Gilbert played two games without relief. Tumatagal na ang mga lolo. Pao also played without relief kasi naman siya ang pinaka-youngest sa amin. While the rest eh nagpapalitan.

The younger guys were appreciative since we gave them good games. (Pakunsuelo yata?!)

Anyway, papawis basketball game? --- SALI NA!

Jojo

July 25, 2005
WOW, halos 3 hours na maglaro ang mga LOLO! Tumatagal na!!

Last Saturday TEAM'82 arrived early mga 5pm nga. We were composed of JAKE DOMINGO, Gary Puno, Jerome Sarte, Roy Cardenas, Erwin Paz, Jojo Angus, Roy Fernandez, Crispin Semana, Gilbert Villapando and Mon Ycasiano.

Yes, Lolo Jake arrived kasi he read the invitation to play dito sa egroups. Well, it was good news for us that he came.

He looks to be in shape. He provided height sa team. He was part of the rotation for the center position. Sabi nga ni Lolo Mon, "Parang tumaas ka pa, Jake ah!" Jake replied, "Sagana sa j____l eh!" HAHAHA!

5:25pm we started playing first plus 1 LSM'80. Lahat agreed to play kasi "sayang ang oras." White vs Blue uli. Frankly forgot who won. So bawas na energy ng team. (Game 1)

Mga quarter past 6, datingan na ang LSM contigent. Nang makabuo na sila ng 5, we played na. Team'82 lost 40-39. Our first defeat sa AFP Wellnes Center. Our thoughts were, "mukhang napagod na ang team'82 against LSM". (Game 2)

One guy sa LSM requested we go "REAL" basketball as in we go 1 game with 4 full quarters of 10 minutes each, with time stopped on free throws, time outs and substitutions. The works... the buzzer was as if were playing amatuer league... We all agreed! AYOS, feeling liga kami TALAGA!

We started game 3. The first three quarters we were on top by 5 points. The first half, we had a 12-14 point lead against the LSM'79-'80 team. The LSM team did not taste the lead after second quarter but they were in the game. They were rallying on fastbreaks and via their 3-point shooters who were giving us headaches in defense. Pagod na ang team'82. Yikes, ubos na energy?!

There was communication within the team. Instructions for a defensive stop took place and everyone in the team gave his share. Karamihan sa team was able to get their second wind and the playing 5 held their composure.... BLAAAATT... time na! We WON 63-60!

Gilbert "the Twister" was his usual self. Gary tried his 3-point repertoire and was our main man sa defense --blocking shots and rebound. Roy C. was playing coach and was no. 2 man sa rebound while Roy F. was our shooter of a good screen.

Lolo Erwin P. was outstanding. He did an all around game -- three point shots, fastbreak points, assist and court generalship. Lolo Mon, the KAPE sa kape't gatas tandem with Erwin P. did his usual 3-point shots. Lolo Jerome continues his game --cool scoring baskets near the hoop and just beyond the 9-feet mark.

Lolo Jojo earned his scoring points from fastbreaks, strong lay ups to the hoop (collecting fouls from LSM's defense) for 2 free throw shots or an extra point. Our coolest dude was Lolo Jun Semana, he is the guy who was at the right place at the right time for the ball both on offensive and defensive rebounds.

Though we won, we missed Edan Surtida, Vic Martinez, Dr. Jonas del Rosario and especially Toti Esguerra sa rotation of combination ng playing 5.

Sa batch, there are guys playing basketball out there, JOIN na so we can enjoy a game like this together. PAPAWIS NA!!!

Pax!

Jojo

To the Hard Playing Lolos of QC'82,

You knocked the wind out of us din sa third game but para talagang sabi nga niyo the lolos playing the amatuer league sans the camera and the fans. Your team showed tenacity, cohesiveness and lumabas ang pagkaensayado niyo, imagine para talagang nasa CSAA UAAP o NCAA foul na counted pa. Sabi nga ng 79 80 team mga bata pa itong kalaban natin pero sabi ko they're only 2 batches away sa atin.

From your loving lolo brothers,

Hhaaayyyy.... Team'82 lost to LSQC'90! Score 64-60 ba yun o 65-61? Naku, yours truly can't remember the score. Hhaaayyyy ulit....

Last Sabado, there were four team na naga-show up sa AFP Wellness Center sa Camp Aguinaldo -- joint contigent of LSM'79&'80 (8 players), your Team'82 (8 players), LSQC'90 (16 players) and selection ng LSQC batch'91(6 players).

Game 1- Team'82 vs Team'90
Game 2 - LSM'79&'80 vs LSQC'91 selected.

Sa totoo lang, nabatak at napatakbo ang mga lolo kahit sa age gap... the lolo's were determined to win pero the ending the younger legs won. Pinagpawisan ang mga lolo ng husto and the noticed that the "wind" within is IMPROVING. hehehe

Team'82 was dealt with their 2nd defeat in their series ng tune up game sa AFP Gym. We were stuggling in the first half talaga. I glimpse a score nga na 2-16 lead ng Team'90. First basket by Erwin after 3 minutes into the game. May time nga na we were down by 20-25 points sa first half. Aargh! Ang rotation for the playing 5 was found vulnerable. We were eight tapos nagkaroon ng back injury si Lolo Jun S. Kaya ang rotation was among 7 players.

Team'82 composed of Vic Martinez, Gary Puno, Jerome Sarte, Jun Semana, Erwin Paz, Jojo Angus, Jonas del Rosario and Jake Domingo.

Nakahabol si Roy Cardenas but he played for LSM na. Gilbert Villapando arrived in street clothes pero ready to play. He decided not to play kasi tapos na ang first game. Playing na ang 2nd game.

We sweated our best efforts to cut down the lead sa 2nd half. Patience... Determination to win... We were down by 2 na lang! Tapos, aray ko... mental lapses equals travelling, sobra ang pass ng ball o di na mahabol ang pasa, missed important free throws that maybe spelled our defeat while most of us were exhausted... strength drained sa all out attempt to take the lead... fatigue took over sa best of us sa end game... We lost BUT it was really fun!

Pauwi... my thoughts then were pag-together ang team and everyone present achieves more and there are no short cuts sa win.

O ikaw? PAPAWIS? Sali na... pa-kondisyon tayo TOGETHER!!!

A Day of Perplexity.

Last August 6, Erwin Paz and I played for and with LSM against LSQC91 (3:40pm), Frankly, we were there to accommodate the tailor of the basketball uniforms. Then we played with the Team82 3-quarters against LSQC-selection (4:50pm) and 1-half against LSQC92 (6:15pm). Whoa! What a tedious day for Erwin and I!

I guess you would be thinking, What are these partial games? Disoriented ang schedules? Well, they are for now, in view of the fact that these are TUNE-UP basketball games in the pipeline for an upcoming goodwill games for basketball.

I forgot the scores... wasnt able to write them down agad. Anyway, we have teams na dapat ay maglalaro ng 3:00pm but naglaro na mga 3:40pm which affected the rest of the schedules. There were FIVE teams present that day. Wow! Ang dami ng players! This day was an understanding to hear complaints, criticisms, grumblings and objections. There was miscommunication. Clearly, these are pangs of setting up a tournament, which most of us would be concerned for a well thought-out project.

Team82 was Jonas del Rosario, Roy Cardenas, Roy Fernandez, Gary Puno, Erwin Paz, Jojo Angus, Jerome Sarte, Gilbert Villapando and LOUIE MAGAT.

Louie played for LSQC basketball and volleyball during our elementary days. He was part of the team, which brought both sport discipline, pride for our alma mater.

Today, he was watchfully grasping his basketball moves back and pacing himself kasi bothered siya. ang hangin ko ang daling maubos. Nevertheless, he played reasonably well for the team. Doc Jonas commented jokingly as Louie was making his move to the hoop, Uy, galaw 80s yun ah!

Team82 played positively well apart from getting confused about the scheduling and stuff. Doc Jonas and Erwin orchestrated the team and were providing assists for a free shot and an under goal shot. Roy C. and Roy F. with their perimeter shots and rebounding skills. Jojo was counting his points sa free throws after getting a foul from a defensive opponent on an offensive try to the hoop. Gary hitting the 3-point shots; blocking shots and rebounding. Gilbert was doing great until hard luck hit him. Jerome was off except for his defensive stances. Louie contributed via blocking shots, rebounds; assist on fast breaks and points around the hoop.

By the way, lets join in prayer for Gilbert Villapandos fast healing and recovery. The Twister twisted his left knee during the game against LSQC92. Sad to note that Team82 have 3 guys sa injured list Toti Esguerra fractured ankle; Vic Martinez fractured left elbow (July 30 game); and now, Gilbert. While Edan Surtida ay nasa reserved list.

Team82 call for reinforcements!

5 lang kami!

We played last Saturday against guys who beat us two Saturdays in a row last month at PMI gym. Two games kami; the scores were 40-19 and 40-30. Panalo kami at 5 lang kami!!!!

It was team LSQC -- Erwin Paz'82, Mon Ycasiano'82, Jojo Angus'82, JC Okol'93 and Al Reyes'93. We were running with the guys while Erwin leads us sa fastbreaks and set plays. We were limiting the opponents to one attempt at a time.

The first game was really great. Our offense was really there. We piled up points sa fastbreak. Naging deadly ang perimeter shots namin. All of us were on an offensive frenzy.

Sa second game, the opponents ang kumikilos sa offense pero ayaw namin patalo --- focus kami. The kape't gatas tandem and Kuya JC took over kaya lumamang kami after 14-18 a 4 point deficit sa first half naging 33-25 sa second half and Lolo Mon nailing the 3-point winning shot!

I think Lolo Erwin will send photos of last Saturday's game!!

Last, Saturday, Team 82 at AFP Wellness Center, Camp Aguinaldo wins 2 games out of 3 against the LSM Marineros. The scores were 41-19, 40-28 and 22-30.

Your team82 line up Jonas del Rosario, Jerome Sarte, Jake Domingo, Roy Cardenas, Roy Fernandez, Mon Ycasiano and Jojo Angus. Erwin Paz was in street clothes kasi recovering siya sa flu.

Naging photographer si Lolo Erwin (resting daw sa kanya yun hehehe) He was shooting photos in place of his co-orchestrating the point and providing three-point shot for the team. Abangan ang mga pictures niya.

The first game, I watched a vicious offense by team 82's Lolos Jerome, Roy F. and Roy C. at the perimeter area. Lolo Mon was REALLY HOT sa three point area he was taking his shots at a PBA standard distance. Doc Jonas led the execution of the team offensive plays.

While the four were carrying the offensive load, Lolo Jake provided the team rebounding, defensive stop reminders and superb hustle. Lolo Jojo was operating inside the shaded lane to give his share on offensive points. The team continued their performance sa second game.

The Marineros were reinforced by our 2 friends LSQC93 JC Okol and Al Reyes. Their team found themselves struggling offensively in the first two games but got back at us on the third game. Sa third game, the Marineros took a 15-2 spread lead. But Team82 got their act together rallying to a 17-all score. The Marineros shook off Team82s offensive threat eventually winning the game.

Sali na ang gusto sumali... PAPAWIS NA!!!!

Team 82 wins over LSM80&96 selection.

Game 1 was a close match between LSQC90 and LSQC93. The second half was like fierce and furious encounter. Both teams were playing at their best especially in the last 4 minutes left in the game wherein LSQC93 edging out LSQC90. The score 54-53.

In the Game 2 displayed a different kind of match wherein TEAM82s old school basketball form paved the way for a win, 76-51 against LSM80&96 selection.

Team82 line-up Erwin Paz, Jerome Sarte, Louie Magat, Roy Cardenas, Jojo Angus, Gary Puno and Jake Domingo. In street clothes were TOTI ESGUERRA and Mon Ycasiano, both became members of the cheering squad. Hehehe!

LSM selection made a 0-8 blitz at the beginning of the first half. Team82 was scoreless and struggling in offense in the first 5 minutes into the game but when Team82 was able to score before the 6th minute answered a 7-point scoring binge by Jojo A., then Team82 ended the half 30-24 and into a scoring rampage in the second half.

Offensive rebounds and quick put back 2 points (Jake, Roy C. and Jojo), points off a fast break (Jojo A. and Erwin), an orchestrated offensive play (Erwin) for a keen inside game (Jojo A. and Louie), a free man for the clear 2-point perimeter (Jerome, Jake, Jojo and Roy C.) and 3-point shot (Erwin, Jojo A. and Gary) while Defensive block shots (Tapal King Gary) and defensive stop reminders (Jake) concluded the team effort to a win!!!

Sali ka na at papawis tayo!!!

TEAM90 rule September 3 tune up games

Team90 held Team82 to a winless slate, 3-0, last Saturday at the LSQC GS Gym.

Team82 roster Doc Jonas, Erwin, Jake, Roy C. and Jojo A. and were reinforced by 2 more friends, Richie90 and Al93. Also present to watch us play was PHILIP FELIX.

Playing without a legitimate center and lack of team mates for the Playing 5 rotation, Team82 exerted all theyve got a concerted effort for an efficient defense with some well orchestrated plays, to snatch a win but to no avail. Errors and miscues hounded Team82.

While Team90 with their usual 12-man team played very well their 3-point shots and inside game was really going for them. In one of the games, Team90 ripped Team82, 14-2, and then ended the game 40-22.

Team80s selection rips Team90s selection

Last Saturday, September 10, LSQC hoopsters came to make 2 teams and two games were played to continue the basketball tune up games at the AFP Wellness Center, Camp Aguinaldo.

Team82 was not able to come up with their usual line-up. Since the AFP basketball gym has been reserved for practice, invitations to play to other batches were done.

Team80s compose of Erwin Paz82, Jojo Angus82, Mon Ycasiano82, Roy Cardenas82, Dan Derpo81, Gelo Roa84, Mel Sanchez84, RP Garcia84 and RJ Garcia88 while Team90s was lead by JC Okol93 and Al Reyes93 et al.

The first game was a first to reach 20 per half Team90s selection won, 34-41. It was sort of a warm up and know your team mate game for Team80s selection. After the break, the second game started with a first to reach 15 per quarter game.

The first half was showed an exchange of baskets both teams displayed tenacity with their inside game, follow up shots on offensive rebounds and perimeter shooting. The first half was 13-15 score, then Team80s outclassed Team90s by ripping the game apart just after the beginning of the 2nd quarter ending the half at 30-19.

Team80s continued their game tight defense, scoring binge via points from the inside game plus free throws, fast breaks, perimeter shots and superb 3-point shooting (a combined total of 8), and never looked back winning the game 61-44.

Makilahok na sa PAPAWIS game malapit na ang pormal na palaro! Tara na!!

Six Teams at Camp Aguinaldo Gym

Games last Saturday
1st game - LSM79-80 team vs. LSQC Team 90
2nd game LSQC80 selection vs. LSQC Team 92
3rd game LSQC93 selection vs. LSQC91 selection
Lourdes School hoopsters of various batches, mostly from QC batch 90s and up got here at the AFP Wellness Center, Camp Aguinaldo in support of the tune up games for the forthcoming basketball tournament games.

In the 1st game, the half time score was 42-32 in favor of LSQC Team 90. LSQC team 90 played hard and did not force LSM to run, run, run and be exhausted. Team 90 opted to make use of substitutions -- to have fresh and/or well-rested players play. LSM played admirably and have a better execution with their plays but the ball would not just go down the basket. Their outside 3-point artillery was silent except in the last quarter of the game but to no avail. Final score: 78-65 LSQC Team 90 win.

It was a high scoring 2nd game. The final score was 96-82 LSQC Team92 wins. Team80s selection has a 7-man contingent; Team 82 line-up was absent once more. Team80s started strong with a 10-3 blitz in the 1st quarter and ended the half at 15-15. After that Team 92 slaughtered Team80s selection with their 3-point treys and a very strong inside game; they lead by as much as 28 points for a while in the 3rd quarter. Team80s zealous efforts reduced their deficit to 12 but since their playing 5 rotations were limited the players were exhausted miscues, lethargic defense and sluggish offensive hustle became evident that showed the way to the teams defeat.

We saw a running game for both teams at Game 3. The 1st half LSQC93 was on top 33-28. As the game proceeded, LSQC 91 selection showed more toughness, tenacity and determination as they played and eventually proved that their running game was better. LSQC 91 selection won 60-55.

Makilahok na!

Batch and Team mates,

It seems that some of you guys are slowly losing interest in playing (wag naman sana). 4 Saturdays na kasi kulang ang Team 82. Most of the time 6 or 7 lang ang present against 10 to 12 players from the opposing teams. There was even a time na 5 lang ang nag-confirm to play, so we had to get reinforcement from Team 93 friends (pero 2 lang ang nakarating). Sayang naman yong naumpisahan natin mga tol. Dumadami na sana tayo and we were winning more games than losing. Some of the teams we beat have players a lot younger than us (mga 10 to 20 years). But, this is not only about winning games for me, as being part of the older batch of competitors (mga lolo na nga sabi ni Jojo A.), its more about exercise and fellowship.

Nanghihinayang kasi kami ni Jojo. We were talking the other day about how most of us have improved a lot in our games. Parang unti-unti nang bumabalik yong mga dating laro ('di nga lang 100%) and, yong iba, lumiliit na mga tiyan at tumatagal na sa laro (Aba! lumalakas na mga resistensiya ng mag lolo).

Its really great to play alongside former class and team mates from LSQC again. Personally, I enjoy every minute of it and Im always looking forward to our Saturday games (sana kayo rin). What can you say, Capt. Roy Cardenas? (addict sa basketball to, no absent)

Kaya,Tara na mga lolo, sabay-sabay na ulit tayong magpapawis! at para nga pala sa mga nanonood ng games ng Team '82 para sumuporta, gaya nila Toti Esguerra at Philip Felix, Maraming Salamat!

PAX!

SOL Edan

Lolo Erwin,

I apologize for failing to play for almost a month now (I think!). It's just that my schedule hasn't been too cooperative unlike in the past where I can be here during weekends. In fact, I haven't had the chance to play with our Pegasus-inspired shorts after I got them a month ago. I'll try my best to play this Saturday if we'll have a game and let's see how it goes from there.

See you...

Gary

Hello classmates,

Napansin ko nga na dumadalang na ang attendance ng batch82 sa tune up games. Specially that time when Erwin & Jojo "Quinito Henson" Angus reserved the LSQC gym for us, kakaunti ang dumating. They did extra effort to reserve that place so that we can see & play in that gym for the first time. Sa bagay it was raining that night...

It brought lots of memories playing for the first time on that gym...the place smelled like the high school auditorium!!!! It reminded me of the times we stayed overtime in LSQC practising for the choir or practicing for our band rock n' roll gigs with Val Fernandez (where is he nowadays anyway??!!), Edan Surtida, Mickey Arroyo (before he became 1st gentleman), & Dr. turned R.N. Mike Bernos.

Anyway we played real bad that night because the younger batch 1990 played real well. Actually masmaganda yung gym sa Camp Aguinaldo...sa Lourdes sumakit ang bewang ko (hindi tuhod) dahil matigas ang wood surface (pag natalo talaga marami palusot hehehe).

We played well two weeks ago when we beat the batch 90's selection in Camp Aguinaldo. We were reinforced by 3 batch '84 guys who can play very good defense & they agreed to join our team together with our elementary batchmate Danny Derpo (HS batch81) because of our poor attendance. It is always nice to have lots of Batch '82 playing because we play better together. I doubt if the younger batches we play with can play as good 10 years from now that we do now. And believe me that gym in Camp Aguinaldo is one of the best in Metro Manila.

Tama si Architect Edan Surtida...Saturdays should be for basketball!!! Let your subordinates do the work for you on this day!!!! Show them who's the BOSS!!! Tell your wife you're playing on this day & no other appointments allowed...Show her who's the boss (kaya lang hindi lang labada ka,kasama pa pati kula at plantsa the whole week...hindi bale nakalaro naman!!). Ako nga exchange ko flight schedules makalaro lang (kasi gusto makabawi sa mga games na talo hehehe)...AGREE BA KAYO O TINGIN NINYO SOBRANG ADDICT LANG NAMIN TALAGA NILA ERWIN & JOJO A. SA BASKETBALL??!!

Ikanga ni Jojo "Quinito" Angus...TARA NA, PAPAWIS NA!!!!

ingat kayo and God Bless.

Pareng Jojo,

We have yet to lose a game na maganda attendance ng team. Sana nandito kyo nila Dennis Baltazar para ma-experience nyo ulit maglaro kasama mga LSQC batchmates and friends.

See you soon 'tol and may God bless you and your family!

Lolo Gary "Tapal King" Puno,

Welcome back pare! Yes, we have a game on Saturday, Sept. 24 at Camp Aguinaldo gym. I'm not yet sure who we're up against. Miss na namin ang "intimidating" presence mo sa court, lalo na mga blocks and 3 point shots mo. Pag wala kasing matangkad sa gitna, malakas loob ng kalaban mgdrive to the basket.

Pilitin mo makalaro ha! Text n lang namin s'yo ni Jojo ang time ng game natin on Sat.

SOL '82 Erwin

Whoa! Thanks Capt. RoyCard for the moniker. Put side by side with Mr. Henson Wow! Hehehe!

Addicted to basketball? Well, I see I am KASI as I leaned to Lolo Erwins invite to play, marami ang changes. Prior to playing the tune up games and the PMI gym days, I was sickly hypertension, overweight, headaches early in the morning (di ako naka-inom ng alak nun ah!) at kung anu-ano pang nararamdaman.

Basketball is my opportunity to let go of stress and mahasa pa lalo na maging competitive. My attention and focus is to sweat it all OUT in addition to INGAT sa paglalaro with whoever I am playing with sa court. After the game, aside from being stress free, on the go ang feel especially when my to-do list permits me to play basketball 3x a week.

Most of the guys I am playing with tell me, Padre, payat ka na ah... Siyempre may kasamang disiplina sa tsibog cease from eating more than a cup of rice; conscious sa pagpili ng ulam; tubig before and after tsibog at wastong 5 to 8 hours of sleep.

Ikaw? Ano kwentong basketball mo? Tara na, PAPAWIS na!!!

Lolo Edan "The Flash" Surtida,

i'm really looking forward to your return here and to the team. 'lam mo naman, 2 lang ang natirang point natin sa team (pag absent 1, bugbog sa laro yong 1).

See you soon and God bless!

PAX!

SOL '82 Erwin

..teka, bigla kong naalala yung nabangga dahil jumijingle ah!...hehe..

..ayon, ng dumadami naman ang participants, napunta naman ako dito..

sayang talaga kung nabase lang ako sa qc, walang patid ang laro..

...anyway, hope the rest of the guys can make adjustments sa mga schedule nila...para walang masyadong absent sa mga future games.

teka, "the flash"? either mukha akong boksingero, o ganon lang talaga kabilis - pang track and field ang dating!

until next time...

in addiction...este addition pala...to Jojo A.'s column...

we have our own perpectives kasi on basketball...

from my point of view...

from me
1. contributation to the teamwork aspect, di na bale makascore, basta i play hard with a team.
2. transcendation of my focus to play seriously to my teamates
3. passionation and addictation to the ball and the hoop
4. respectation to the court; love the court!

to me
1. physical fitness, stamina
2. additional focus and concentration
3. stress free lifestyle
4. recognition of talent

although there are better sports around us, (i play tennis and golf btw), other than the abovementioned benefits...

may mas malalim na meaning kasi ang basketball IF batch82 teamates ay solid...

yon lang naman yon...3 to 5 years down the road, meron na namang milestone ang batch82...

it's not purely love of the game....it's simply love for the batch.

sige na! give your best effort to save saturdays for basketball....

love the game, love the court, love the batch.

Pax

Lolo Edan "The Flash" (bansag ni lolo awin, siguro kamukha ko si flash elorde) Surtida

fyi lang, first week ko in Singapore, no confirmed work yet...pero nauna na ang liga ng basketball...

...first game, first love...first win...

Hi guys,

Great day everyone! Been reading all your e-mails lang for years already. This is the first and def not the last that you'll hear from me naman. Sayang naman Erwin what's happening to our team. We really have improved a lot. And we're starting to have a complete line up already. I can remember my last game. We we're playing against batches 10 years younger than us. And we really gave them a run for their money. I really missed playing our Saturday regular. If not only for my unfortunate accident, wala din ako absent like capt Roy. As in I'm looking forward my every Saturdays. Good exercise na, great company pa. Speaking of my accident, I'm recovering pretty well. I'm still on my crutches and leg support. I'm starting to exercise it already. Might be back by next year pa but def I'll be playing again. Btw. Thanks to all you guys, not just our batch mates but to all lourdesians even to our brothers from manda who prayed for the success of my surgery and my fast recovery. Thanks so much to your support, specially Jojo A. & Erwin P., mga ginawa kong driver and alalay after my accident, and walang sawang pangagamusta. Bawi ako mga sir.

Anyway, just wrote to call all our batch mates to join our Saturday regular games. You'll really enjoy it, and a great chance to keep in touch with not only our batch mates, but also meet lower and higher batches and even our brothers from manda. Like what I said, good exercise, great company, and who knows, business opportunity, he he..

BTW awin, jo, don't hung my jersey yet. I'll Be Back!

Gilbert The Twister Villapando,

Pare, its so nice to hear from you. Sobrang miss ka na namin sa basketball games natin every Saturday. Of course, were not going to hang your jersey. Once a member of the team, always a member. Hihintayin namin talaga pagbabalik nyo nila Toti E., Vic M. (both injured) and Edan S. (in Singapore). Why? Gaya nga ng sabi mo, hindi lang good exercise good company pa. Kaya no need to rush parewell keep on praying for your speedy recovery.

See you soon and God bless!

Kinukumusta ka nga pala ni Louie Magat. Lagi kang tinatanong sa amin everytime na naglalaro siya.

Erwin

Gilbert,

Si Dennis Baltazar 'to. Musta na? Been reading the chatter and found out you got into an accident. Mukhang major accident requiring a serious operation 'to a! I don't know the specifics but I'm glad you sound ok now. Kelangan nga ng TEAM 82 ng turn around jumper month so get well soon! Balita na lang sa susunod.

Anyway, stand by lang ako dito and just keep in touch. Get well soon...

Dennis

Erwin 'Hubalde',

Hang in there! Babalik din ang spirit of TEAM 82. Ganyan talaga pag maraming 'commitments' (serious or otherwise) ang members. I guess I can't even use that as an excuse kasi yung ibang batch kumpleto naman. Oopps! (Hehehe j/k). Basta ang importante, nandiyan kayo nina Jojo A (aka Quinito Henson) and the other consistent members of the team. I'm sure the players will realize na at 40+, peeps na katulad natin need to exercise more. Camaraderie is just icing on the cake.

Anyway, basta sali ako pag uwi diyan. Number 3 kung available pa! Sige, ingat na lang!

Dennis

Dennis,

Si Erwin Paz is aka B. Fabiosa (PBA) or S. Nash (NBA).

Jojo

Yo 'The Twister'!

Jersey? No time to hang it eh... kasi I am looking forward sa iyong COMEBACK.... Take your time sa healing...

Great news hearing you are doing better now... Sa OktuBEERit, punta ka kahit in crutches ka pa....

See you soon...

LSQC93 selection dominates September 24 Tune Up games

In the first game, Team93 selection thrashed an incomplete line up of team LSM Marineros, 107-73. Team Marineros initially showed up with few of its players, however were reinforced by a group of military men. Team93 played their game and never looked back after leading by as much as 10 in the beginning of the first quarter. Half time score was 43-31.

The second game was a NO SHOW by Team 90 the team who defeated Team Pegasus twice in their basketball meetings. Conversely, Team93 selection (11 players) stayed and played with 7 players that Team Pegasus has Erwin, Jojo, Roy F., Gary, Jerome, Gelo84 and Dan81 (Capt RoyCard through SMS was apologetic of his absence kasi dehydrated siya sa bout niya with LBM).

Team Pegasus played capably in the first quarter afterwards engaged in a miserable offense in the latter parts of the game a good motion offense but can not get the ball to go in; piled up good points in spurts to drop the lead to as much as 7 and yet miscues and some offensive lapses hounded the team.

Notwithstanding weariness and exhaustion during the game Team93 selection took advantage of Team Pegasus depleted line up (again?!); cruised after the second quarter, finished the half, 49-38; lead by as much as 28 points and ended the game 100-86.

Dennis,

We already reserved Team'82 jersey no.3 especially for you. Pagdating mo na lang ang hinihintay. Sa ngayon, magbasa ka na lang muna ng mga write up ni Jojo "Quinito Henson" Angus at tumingin ng mga pics sa website.

See you soon pare!

Erwin

Jo,

Ganun ba!

Ok, ok, nuff of that. I gotta rush to Penn Station NY to catch my 10am train for washington dc. Nawiwili ako sa bberry eh. Baka maiwan ng tren. Hope you all have a great work week ahead.....

Dennis

Jojo "Quinito" Angus,

Sana hindi mo na binanggit yung exact reason for my absence...baka i-censor tayo ni Abac Cordero ng PhilStar sports section...

Your breaking sports news should have read: "Capt Roycard thru Sms was apologetic of his absence kasi dehydrated siya because he stayed too long & sweated out in the powder room (CR) because it was too hot inside..." hehehe

Kudos to Arch. Gilbert "The Twister" Villapando!!!!!!!!! Just do not hang his jersey yet because he will be back...that is what I call "BACK IN BUSINESS!!!"

As our Attorney classmates Aids L., Jerome S. & Joseph "Episode 2" Literal might say: See you in court...in the basketball court!!!!!

Bgy Capt Roy "LBM" Card

ps: LBM means "Lethal Basketball Motion" (but only in my dreams)

Ayos! Thanks much and looking forward to next year. Tuloy ang basketball mgs tsip...

Games Last Saturday October 1 (LSQC GS Gymnasium)

5:00pm Team93 selection vs Team Pax Et Bonum (92 selection)
6:30pm Team90 selection vs Team Pegasus (82 selection)
8:00pm Team Magsaysay selection vs Team Rivera selection

Game 2. It was a sluggish start for both teams. Mutually, they were slowly inching their way for offensive execution. Team90 obviously had the taller line-up and limited Team Pegasus to one offensive attempt at a time. They were a tough team to contend with. Team Pegasus led the half time score 30-28.

Team Pegasus line up Erwin Paz, Mon Ycasiano, Jojo Angus, Jonas del Rosario, Roy Fernandez, Louie Magat, Gelo Roa, Dan Derpo and ROBBIE BATACLAN. Clearly, with 4 guards and 5 forwards the team has no legitimate center but the team settled down to adjust to Team90s defensive bearing. On defense, Dan, Jojo, Louie and Roy F. exerted boxing out tactics for rebounding and the minute Team Pegasus found their shooting touch and offensive incursions they lead as much as 10 in most parts of the game.

The teams motion offense was taking place leading the offensive orchestration were Doc Jonas, Gelo, Erwin and Robbie. Though Robbie was a bit rusty, his aggressive attacks to the hoop look easy, whereas an assist pass to Louie (who is improving consistently) and Jojo concluded an under goal stab. The teams ball rotation allowed competent perimeter shooting Roy F.s bank shots, Gelos shots from the wings, Jojos shots near the free throw line; and timely back breaking 3 point shots were completed by Erwin, Mon and Gelo.

Team90s man to man defense dictated their comeback, slowly eating Team Pegasus lead. Team Pegasus was still ahead 66-60 into the final 2-minutes when Team90 made an effort to turn the game around consequently moving the momentum to them.

At 69-all both teams in penalty, a missed incursion by Jojo due to a foul; trash talking to the referee by a player who did not commit the foul caused their team a technical foul that equated to 4 free throws and Team Pegasus ball possession. Jojo muffed his free throws as well as Gelos attempt.

Team90 took the lead 69-71. Then, Gelo got an offensive foul off Team90 and made sure his free throws were in to the tie the count at 71-all. After that time expired. DRAW! No 5-minute extension was made since it was a tune up game.

Games Saturday, October 8 (LSQC GS Gym)

5:00pm QC Primex vs. QC Pax Et Bonum (92 selection)
6:15pm QC Pegasus vs. MANDA Marineros
7:40pm QC Team Magsaysay vs. QC Continentals ('93 Selection)

Game 2. Dubbed as Life begins at 40s basketball for both team members are either in their early 40s or late 30s. The team was delighted about Team Marineros visit to LSQC for the game. It was pleasurable match up game where the half time ended at 45-31.

Team Pegasus with 12 players, namely: Gelo Roa84, Erwin Paz, Mon The Black Ninja Ycasiano, Roy Fernandez, Roy Capt. Lethal Basketball Motion (LBM) Cardenas, Jake Domingo, Gary Tapal King Puno, Jojo Angus, Doc Jonas del Rosario, Dicky Gochangco 81, Dan Derpo81, and Louie Magat. Robbie Bataclan81 showed support came in street clothes kahit na swelling ang left ankle niya. Atty. Joseph Literal got here to watch.

Doc Jonas rotated the Pegasus playing 5 very well, seeing that each player get an ample playing time and substitutions were timely combinations were fitting to playing with each other either on defense or offense. Thus, tiring and frustrating the Marineros who came with 8 players.

Everyone was a part of the cause of winning Erwin, Jonas and Gelo were patiently moving the ball around assisting a free man for an open shot for Roy F., Louie, Mon, Roy C., Jake or an under goal stab by Dan, Gary and Jojo.

Capt. LBM Roy was almost 100% in his field goal conversions I think missing 1 or 2 of his 11 attempts.

After a defensive rebound by Dan, Gary, Roy F., Roy C., Louie fast breaks were in motion for Gelo, Erwin, Jojo, Jonas and Mon. Tapal King Gary showed dominance in blocking shots.

The shots at the three point area contributing were Erwin, Gary, Roy Cardenas and Dicky (Roy C. and Dicky did most of the damage at this range) were smarting Team Marineros defense.

Team Pegasus seized the victory, winning by 26 points, 87-61.

Papawis ika nga ng karamihan sa naglaro. It was a Team82 Basketball composed of Erwin Paz, Jonas del Rosario, Jerome Sarte, Roy Cardenas, Jojo Angus, Jake Domingo and TOTI ESGUERRA while RAINIER CRUZ dropped in to visit the team.

Seven kami uli kaya affected ang rotation ng playing 5, so Team Pegasus were outplayed by Team Pax Et Bonum, 84-71.

In the absence of "Tapal King" Gary Puno, Lolo Jake and Capt. RoyCard did most of the shot blocking. The team was outrebounded both in offense and defense by the taller and heftier opposition. What kept us in the game was the team was patiently moving the ball around and finding an open man for the clear 2- or 3-point shot..

Though nag come back si Lolo Toti in a losing game, we received a short message from him Sarap maglaro kahapon after 5 months not playing. Sakit katawan ko ngayon pero sarap to know I can still play. Thnx pre.

Toti came and played after a 5-month lay off since an injury - a broken ankle sometime May 2005. He played a cautiously yet capably while on the court. I think he had 4 field goals out 6 attempts.

Pareng Toti, it was a real pleasure seeing you in basketball action. Welcome back. Kita-kits tayo sa basketbolan ng LSQC

O kayo?! Hanggang reading na lang ba? Tara na at maglaro...

Not that it matters, but the score was closer, 81-74. We played against faster Lourdesians , most of them 10 years younger. Was telling the team that 1 point for every 1 year age differential should be imposed. Technically, we should be +10. So losing by 7 points is not too bad. Nonetheless, when we have more than 10 players, the team is usually more competitive. Sali na kayo.

Pax,

Jonas

Pare,

Thank you for calling my attention.... another case of typo error... a finger pressing and movement mix up! hehehe

Anyway, ang personal schedule ng mga manlalaro natin limits us to play with each other frequently. The team meets once a week and not all the time eh buenas or nasa condition ang laro ng isa 'di ba? Pero dahil sa basic team basketball skills Team'82 or PEGASUS is no push over.

I strongly agree with you pag 10 or more tayo. Kapag, again 10 or more, dami selection (pamalit) -- the playing 5 can run better maybe not as fast and keep up with these younger opponents dahil substitutions do mean a lot.

Sali na. Papawis tayo.

Pax.

Sabado, October 29 Tune Up Games
LSQC Elem. Gym

3:45pm Continentals vs Janphil
5:00pm Pegasus vs Notre Dame selection (guest team)
6:45pm Primex vs BBC2000

Janphil won 94-89 against Continentals; half score 48-51 even as the Continentals lead by as much as 11 in the middle of the 3rd quarter. Janphil, the latest team to join the SOLGG tune up games showed up and played more capably at the end game.

Pegasus defeating Notre Dame Selection, 100-93; half score 48-45. However, though Notre Dame came with very young dudes (Milo Best trainees) and not their expected line up gave Pegasus a run for their money. Pegasus, the 'Lolo' Team played, lead as much as 10 in the second half and showed what basic basketball was then.

The last game was a show of tough defense by both teams but the end game showed who seriously wants to win. Primex played well against BBC2000, 73-69; half score 38-40.

A day of would be 5-minute extension. DEADLOCKS!

Games Saturday (LSQC Elem. Gym)
3:45pm Continentals vs. Fundadors
5:30pm Janphil vs. Team Ontiveros'96
6:45pm BBC2000 vs. Pax Et Bonum

Continentals defeated Fundadors 79-67. The Continentals came prepared playing against the Fundadors. The Fundadors played capably however they had an incomplete line-up that limited their playing 5 rotation. After trailing 3 points after the 1st quarter, team Continentals played skillfully.

Game 1 Quarterscores: 16-19, 37-32, 58-43, 79-67

Deadlock 1 Janphil vs Team Ontiveros96 72-all.
Team Ontiveros96 dominated the game versus the undermanned Team Janphil. At the second canto of the game they led as much as 12. Though Team JanPhil was undermanned their fighting spirits were evident during the game. At some stage in the last 2 minutes of the game, Team Janphil was able to take the lead. An exchange of baskets took place in last 45 seconds. Team Janphil was up by 2 and at the last 1.2 seconds Team Oliveros96 was able to tie the game.

Game 2 Quarterscores: 14-16, 26-38, 51-55, 72-all

Deadlock 2 BBC2000 vs Pax Et Bonum 74-all
We watched as seesaw game. One team would dominate a quarter. After Team BBC2000 equalizing at some point in dying seconds of the game at 74-all, Team Pax Et Bonum had a opportunity to win the game with a player getting free from a tight defense and he was alone ready to receive a pass just near the goal. But BBC2000s tallest player was in the passing lane and intercepted the ball.

Game 3 Quarterscores: 18-13, 37-42, 62-54, 74-all

NOTE:
Teams are required to wear the official SOLGG Tune Up games uniforms!

No Uniform, No Play!

PLS BE REMINDED:
Each team is encouraged to be at the gymnasium at least 30 minutes before their scheduled game.

It seems that the score results below show lopsided games. Correct excluding the last game! Team St. Gregory almost blew their domination of the game. They lead by as much as 15 points. Team St. Bernardine took a 1-point lead in the last 30-seconds, however in the dying 5-seconds St. Gregory's three-point shooter nailed a clear shot in the rainbow region.

The teams at this point are receiving the experience of the contest arena, getting the feel of organizing the team and playing basketball together for the first time.
