Batchmates,
Our batch is once again staging an event dubbed as "OktuBEERit...A night of jamming and partying" this coming October 23, 2004. This would be on its second year and we would make it bigger and better.
Oktubeerit has been adopted by the alumni association as part of the annual activities as prelude to the homecoming. Oktubeerit features only local talents (Lourdesians) that maybe someday will be tapped for bigger things. It was proven during the first run that we really have a rich source of raw talents. We will be inviting selected high school students who have formed their own bands.
We would set-up booths that would serve food and drinks. Our batch definitely would handle the beer part and the sales would definitely go to our funds. The booths would be on concession basis and I have invited other batches for their own fund-raising activities. Last year, we donated 30% of the net income to the alumni association. However this year, the executive committee would still finalize whether we still follow the same scheme or just donate the rentals of the booth to the association.
This event is a property of the batch and we are encouraging everyone to support it. We would be once again tapping the kind-hearted batchmates as sponsors of this event. We are currently negotiating with a major sponsor for this event.
